Morocco

This place feels more like the middle east than what i figured southern morocco / north africa would be like. Its cool cos its soo different and such a completely different culture. The waves are really dying off, so today we checked out the local market, which i think is called a seok... there was soo much fresh produce there, we really have no idea where it all comes from because all we drive past is bone dry desert with afew trees. Even saw some goats climbing around the top of one of the trees, apparently they do it alot round here, fair enough too cos there isnt much else to eat.
We are staying in Taghozuot which is right on the beach about half way down the coast and will stay round here for the next week untill we go back to Marakesh for a couple of nights to look around.
Mike,
out.

-count down-

I have a week and half of work left now which is going very quicky which means I'll be out of Newquay and on the road once again before I know it. September has been a really good month for Newquay, the crowds have gone and the sun finally showed up, so it's been nice to enjoy some hot, near empty beaches too. It's just starting to get abit chilly in the last couple of days with a low moving down from up north, but it means we finally have some swell again! YEYA!

For this last month I've been working with some mates at a pub which is just down the road from my house and over looks the harbour, so my world is nice and compact right with out having to really walk too far for anything.

We all went out to the Crantock Bale push the other night which was actually really good, Crantock is a small town just down from Newquay, and the biggest night of the year for them is when they race around the town pushing a hay bale. Kinda like the old wellington street race but with a hay bale instead of a car. You get the picture.

I luckily didn't compete as all the girls where far more eager to push the bale than the boys, so we left them to it, our team surprisingly came last when they lodged their bale against a house on the first corner... it's a very small town. The start/finish line is between the towns two pubs, so ya don't have to walk to far to get your next cornish cider. Once it finished we retreated into the nearest pub to watch some quality Elvis impersonations... happy days!!

So, I leave here on the 2nd of Oct and stay with my Grandparents for a couple of days and then head to Morocco for a couple of weeks, and then Thailand, and then Indo, and then, home... nice!

I'm trying not to think about seeing you all again to be honest, it makes me want to skip the journey short and gun it home... but I shall see you all soon enough, and it will be good, ooh yes.

Love ya's

A couple of snaps from the beach bbqs, they're not so nazi about lighting fires on the beach over here, so we've been making the most of it. :)

Greetings from the spacious beaches of Newquay

The longer I'm away the slacker I get with this blog, but for those of you who may stumble across this new post, I'm back in Newquay now... and have been for a little while.
So far this summer has been VERY average, we've had a couple of nice weeks and a lot less rain than the rest of England, but nothing like last summer and we're hoping August will be better for the boardmasters.
Much excitement last week tho, I booked my tickets to Morocco in October where I meet Jason and Dean (a couple of kiwi boys I work with) for 2 weeks and get some sun and surf, which I could be in much need of if things don't start changing around here.
It's been cool hanging out with Andy and Lauren who I was in Switzerland with, but now Andy has gone back to Oxford sadly, and by the looks of things from the news it's more than likely he is floating around somewhere in a boat as a lot of Oxford is underwater.
A good thing about the weather is that there has been more swell around than there usually is this time of year, so we're not stuck for things to do when it's raining. Today the sun is actually shining and we're meant to be in for a good week, fingers crossed!
Hope you guys are surviving the winter back home!!
Take care, oh and I'll be home for christmas!
Mike

-YO-

To start Id like to let you know that this german keyboard doesnt have exclamation marks... not that I can see anyway, or various other usefull symbols used in the english language to help express myself.
Alas I soldier on.
2 days to go in Saas Fee, and I realised I havnt posted on the blog in quite sometime. Much has happened with various snowboard comps and birthdays which has helped make the time go alot faster than it really should have. All work is done here and Ive been blessed with a very nice suite on the top floor of our hotel, which is helping the relaxation amazingly well... the difference between my old box of a room and the newbie is too much to handle, but I think Ill get there.
Birthday was a goodie, got dressed up with some mates who are also april babys and headed out for our usual circuit of town and had a really good night. Bit of a monster theme going on as it was friday the 13th, if you see an pics... yes thats me in the blue monster outfit, which sadly got stolen at the end of the night. GRR.
We have had the last of the boarder comps here which signal the end of the season and just today they closed the ski runs which come down to the village for lack of snow, its wierd seeing all places we were skiing on just a little while ago suddenly turn into green feilds where we now play soccer and sunbathe on. Its sooo much quieter here now aswell, I went up on the first lift today to get some skiing done and pretty much had the mountain to myself, which is a strange feeling without the noise of other skiiers around, so when I stopped to look around the silence is something else.
Im heading back to the UK on friday !!!!!!!! oh he finds the exclamation mark !!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yes !!! I can express myself again!!!!!
So, I meet up with my ma next monday in london and head to my grandparents where we will hang out for abit and then look around Irland which I am really looking forward to, so it will be great to see a familiar face... its been far too long!
Oh we went to Zermatt the other week too and boarded under the Matterhorn which is a very impressive mountain and sticks straight out in the middle of the alps and really stands out... rather like dogs balls. It was cool to get out and about and catch the train over there which runs through some seriously long tunnels and also runs on a cog track in the middle of the tracks so it can get up the hills, (for those interested in trains).
Tomorrow we have our team ski, which I will be wearing my boardies and what looks like a netball bib, wish me luck!

Hope you are well and loving life, write me an email if you read this, OKAY!
mike
Ill get some photos up for ya too.
